Defining the times of your life...

Some people accomplished great things in their life time. Politicians, civil right activists, artists, poets, sportsmen; people who left their marks on the world and are often remembered long after they are gone. They defined the landscape of their times:

Abraham Lincoln
Martin Luther King
Elvis Presley
Robert Frost
Florence Griffith-Joyner...(who...?)

Some of us would wished to be remembered not for anything less, but to wish for more is probably almost ridiculous. I would not wished for anything near to what these people have accomplished. That would of course be impossible. What I wish however, is to impact my circle of influence with enough positivity that perpetuate long after I am gone. How does one do that I wonder?

Simple.

Be true to yourself. If you are sincere and honest with who you are, you will come across as sincere and honest to the people around you. Treat everyone with kindness and respect. Be nice. Be respectful for differences.

See everyone as a creation of God. God's children I may add. No one is better or lesser than the other. If God sees each one of His children with love, and we say we are all children of God, then why can't we see each other with love and kindness as well? No one should be treated differently because of the colors of one's skin, social class and religious preferences. We are all children of God.

Therefore, if we can't define the times we are in and leave that kind of mark on the world, try to leave something perhaps more tangible. Leave memories. Loving warm memories of who you are.

That's the thought. Think about it.

You would have then claimed to have defined- in a small way - the times of your life.
