The World Cup 2010

I guess it would be a pity not to have something written about the world cup. I mean, this is the greatest game on earth. It happens once only in four years. Its something that should be celebrated. To make a big deal of. To go crazy about.

That is, if you are a fan of football of course.

I am not particularly into football. Or any game for that matter. I don't play any sport, urgh... It's just not me anyway. Therefore, there's not much to say about it. Or, is there?

It is incredible to me how people seems to suddenly have a certain favorite team or favorite player. Once in a span of four years you have to make a quick decision to support a team. To pick a favorite player. You have to, otherwise you will feel like a complete fool. Everybody has one favorite team, right? A bunch of handpicked players that they will root for. That's just the way it goes.

Anyway, it happens once in four years, so why not?

Let see, which country to support now. England? Ah, they are too stuck up. Too pampered. Overdone. Besides, I hate the WAGS. Why do they have to have everything good happening to them? Brazil? Yes, yes...they are the reigning champion...Nah, too cliche. Argentina? Oh ya, Maradona. Why not? Spain? Spain, who? Germany? Why pick Germany?

That's the dilemma when you are not a fan of football, lol.

Yet, it becomes very easy when your choice is based on the players. But first wait until you have seen the first round. When everyone has played. Until you have had the opportunity to watch the players and search the faces for that particular player that caught your fancy. This time around though its easy because they are many to pick from. Messi? Torres? Hinguan? Alonso? Villa? Puyol? You say, Puyol?

Hmmm...

Who is that gorgeous referee from Japan? Don't you think he's good looking? What about Germany's manager, Loew?

hahahaha...

So you see, for most people (I mean, women) it's not that they have always supported Brazil, Argentina, Germany or Spain. Who cares? Let's play and win already. Yet, because of the need to make a choice, a team is chosen. And because Torres plays for Spain, a lot of women will pick Spain.

Now, the open secret is out. Go Spain...
